This is the first installment of the daily tech review from theurbangeek.com – I’ll recap some of the biggest stories in tech that occur each day. This should be interesting…..

How Ironic?

Just noticed this on the front page of Apple’s website. Apparently they don’t seem to really care about MobileMe either.

Well, lookie lookie here. After all of the speculation and rumors this seems to be the real deal. The phone fell into the hands of Gizmodo today and they have confirmed that all of the internals are indeed Apple branded and manufactured. I think its a pretty bold design on Apple’s part but I do expect the exposed seems and edges to be refined prior to Apples official release.

If there are any indications that this is the realy thing it would seem you could compare the 30 pin dock connection. Apple decided to go with an overly flat dock connection on the iPad and this supposed 4G leak shares some of those traits. Take a look and tell me what you think

Great Use of HTML5 on iPad Website

This is pretty tight. Built on HTML5 and some cleverness everytimezone.com has shown, in minimal form, what can be accomplished beyond a reliance on Flash. If you have an iPad check it out: http://everytimezone.com/

Where Are “joo” Now?

As far as I know, this is the first time that an iPhone OS has provided the capability of opening documents outside of it’s default applications. GoodReader’s latest update, 2.7.4, has just set the bar for other applications within the iPad document reading space. Users now have the ability to be in an application like Mail and open attachments inside of GoodReader. This can be accomplished either by tapping the attachment, or pressing it down for a about 2 seconds and selecting your desired application. As of right now GoodReader is the only app of its kind. Definitely worth the your George Washington.

I think these stats are quite telling.

Meet The Youngest iPad Developer

His name is TJ, he’s 16, and is cranking out iPad apps. At 16, I was lucky if I tied my shoes correct on the first try. Check out the full article and interview over at Fast Company.

A few companies who are currently manufacturing accessories for the iPad have reached out to me to review their products. Next week I will be putting them through some real life scenarios and posting my opinion of each product. Before my post, please let me know if there is anything you are on the fence about buying or just really would like to observe a formal review. I’ll do my best to work some magic and test your desired products out.

Thanks – B

Hmmm…Who will win. It’s a certainly a photo finish. While recording, I couldn’t even tell which device came in first.
